House Exterior Before and After
Before
Our house was a beautiful combination of heritage green trim and pink, yes pink. Not quite a normal house colour but not as offensive as it may sound. Lulu, of course, was a vote to keep the pink but we thought we might go in a different direction.
After
We opted for a dark grey trim with a light grey paint . While I was the most vocal person in the choosing of the colour, I think the grey could have been lighter and greyer (if that makes sense?). It is so hard to know what it will look like until it is up. It was 7 months from when we told the painter we were ready to have the outside painted, to when the painters turned up. With only one day to choose the actual colour, I didn't want it to be another 7 months before the outside was done, so there wasn't really time to paint a section and see how it went. It does look good up close and on cloudy days but in the stark sunlight I think it is a little blueish.
My first tip to you - make time to paint a section that gets lots of sun and see how it goes in all light.
My second tip - get the exterior painted as soon as possible. Even if the inside isn't done, rocking up to a newly painted house each day makes it feel like the renovation is already complete.
Have you had the exterior of your house painted? Do you have any for selecting paints for the house exterior? I would love to hear how it went for you.
